American Eagle was the new name of Phoenix Software after it was sold in 1984 (excluding a very brief time as Zooom Software). The company was still based out of the Chicago area and released games for the Apple II, Commodore 64, and Atari 8-bit machines through 1985.
American Eagle continued to sell earlier Phoenix products but never repackaged the software, instead covering Phoenix logos with American Eagle labels.
While most Phoenix products were not modified by American Eagle, Masquerade was ported to the Commodore 64 - the conversion was mostly the work of Gemini author John O'Fallon. A Sherwood Forest conversion was in the works but was never completed.
I don't have more details, but in the 1985-1986 timeframe, the company stopped developing games and focused on business aspects. American Eagle is still in business today, and does web hosting, development, and maintenance.
Any additional info on American Eagle and American Eagle products would be appreciated, particularly Fraktured Faebles.
